Revisiting Face Radio of 1998, this project evolved unedited over the duration of the residency/show as I mapped out the radio frequency spectrum via requests from visitors. Unlike the typical exhibition model that stages a series of finished works, it began in an empty space with the exception of a video dramatisation of the process and some related drawings made within the locality in May 2006. Face Radio Live sought to emphasize the transitional process between the passive act of listening and the active acts of imagining and drawing by placing the artist in residence as a translator. This live model aimed to strengthen the connections between studio practice and presentation by making them parallel activities thus broaching the gap between the artist and the audience as viewers could tune into the project at various points in time and also participate in it’s development. In turn, the pictures were described/discussed/disseminated in an ABC Radio interview with Jo Printz as the residency neared it's end.
